
Dr. Megan Fulcher – Dr. Megan Fulcher completed her Ph. D. in developmental psychology at UVA in 2004. She is a professor of Psychology at Washington and Lee University. Her research interests include the social and emotional development of children, children’s gender-role acquisition and understanding, individual differences in children’s gender-role flexibility, and development in the context of traditional and non-traditional families. She oversees the Gender Psych lab and all of its research projects. Her current research focuses on gender toys and play and their impact on children’s vision of their future work and family lives.
Current Members

Camille (C.C.) Golub ’26 is a senior from Woodside, California, pursuing a double major in Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences and Business Administration with a minor in Data Science. She has assisted in the lab since the winter of her sophomore year, and additionally serves on the Courses and Degrees as a student representative. She enjoys competing in triathlons, watching Formula 1, and being with family. After graduation, she plans on pursuing a career that allows her to combine her interests in human behavior and psychology with advanced technology and business.

Anna Maloof ’26 is a senior from Atlanta, Georgia, majoring in Cognitive and Behavioral Science with a minor in Poverty and Human Capability Studies. She joined the lab in the winter of her junior year after returning from a semester abroad in Florence, Italy. At Washington & Lee, she volunteers at The Magnolia Center, serves on RUF Servant Team, works part-time at Yellow Brick Roac, and spends hours playing her guitar. After graduation, she plans to work in a career serving children living with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Caroline Ruth ’26 is a senior from Baton Rouge, Louisiana pursuing a major in Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences on the Pre-Med track as well as a minor in Entrepreneurship. She joined the lab winter of her Junior year. At Washington and Lee, she serves as the President of General Repairs Club where they partner with Habitat for Humanity to carry out repair projects for those in the Rockbridge Community. She also serves as the Vice President of Operations for her sorority. She loves to spend her free time hiking trails in and around the Lexington area. Following graduation, she plans to attend Medical school or graduate school to become a Physicians Assistant.

Anne Charlotte Robinson ’26 is a senior from Palmyra, Virginia majoring in Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences with a minor in Religion. She joined the lab after returning from a semester abroad in Copenhagen studying Positive Psychology. She also works a Senior Associate at W&L’s HR office and has served on the Panhellenic Executive Board. After graduation, she plans to pursue a Master in Marriage and Family Counseling.

Avery Lee ’27 is a junior from Austin, Texas pursuing a double major in Cognitive and Behavioral Science and Strategic Communication. She joined the lab this fall. Outside of classes, she serves as the recruitment director for her sorority, writes for InGeneral magazine and enjoys spending time with her friends. After graduation she plans to go into advertising and then attend graduate school to go into children’s mental health therapy.

Lizzie Hunter ‘28 is a Sophomore from Atlanta, GA pursuing a double major in Cognitive and Behavioral Science and American History with a minor in Poverty and Human Capability Studies. She is a new member of the lab, joining this winter. Outside of class Lizzie is a YoungLife College leader at W&L, Sisterhood Chair for her sorority, and helps lead the Hearing Advisor Program. After graduation Lizzie plans to combine her interests in counseling, leadership, and non-profit!

Noa Barak ’28 is a sophomore from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, pursuing a double major in Cognitive and Behavioral Science and Business Administration. She joined the Gender Development Research Lab in the winter of her sophomore year. Outside of the lab, Noa serves as Vice President of Religious Education at Hillel, is a member of Washington and Lee Student Consulting, and works as a University Ambassador. She enjoys playing tennis and hiking outdoors. After graduation, she is interested in pursuing a career in consulting and roles that combine psychology and business, and she is also considering continuing her studies in psychology at the master’s level.

Ruthie Hay ‘26 is a senior from Atlanta, GA, pursuing a B.S. in Cognitive and Behavioral Science and a minor in Poverty and Human Capability studies. She has been a member of the lab since the winter of her junior year. In addition to her studies, Ruthie serves as the president of her sorority, leads an all-girls a cappella group, sings in a student band, and spends her free time caring for children. She will attend Emory Nursing School beginning in the fall of 2026 in order to pursue a career as a pediatric nurse practitioner, with the goal of one day working in a children’s hospital!

Cate Seymour ’25- Catherine is a 2025 graduate from St. Simons Island, Georgia, who majored in Cognitive and Behavioral Science and Spanish, with a minor in Data Science. She is currently a Kenan-Lewis Fellow at Woodberry Forest School, teaching Spanish while completing her MEd from the University of Virginia’s School of Education and Human Development. Catherine joined the lab in the winter of her junior year. At W&L, she served as student co-President of the Cognitive and Behavioral Science Department and enjoys walking dogs at the Rockbridge SPCA.

Jessica Sondey ’25- Jessica is a 2025 graduate from Bronxville, New York, who majored in Cognitive and Behavioral Science with minors in Education and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She is currently pursuing her master’s at Columbia University. Jessica joined the lab in the spring of her sophomore year. At W&L, she volunteered at Project Horizon, the local domestic violence shelter in Rockbridge County

Anna Ruth Morrison, ‘24 – Anna Ruth is a 2024 graduate from Charlotte, North Carolina, who majored in Cognitive and Behavioral Science with a minor in Chinese. She joined the lab in the winter of 2022. At W&L, Anna Ruth was a member of the communications team for the FYOC and coached the swim team at the Rockbridge Aquatic Center in Lexington.

Sydney Hunter ‘24, – Sydney is a 2024 graduate from Atlanta, Georgia, who majored in Cognitive and Behavioral Science and Biology. She is now pursuing her MD at the Medical College of Georgia. Sydney joined the lab in the winter of her sophomore year. At W&L, she was involved in the Outing Club and Campus Kitchen.

Kathleen Roberts, ‘24 – Kathleen is a 2024 graduate from Dallas, Texas, who majored in Cognitive and Behavioral Science. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Educational Psychology at Southern Methodist University’s Simmons School of Education and Human Development. Kathleen also received the Leaders Investigating Mathematics Evidence (LIME) program, a fully funded PhD sponsorship grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs. She joined the lab in the fall of her sophomore year. At W&L, Kathleen was a group exercise yoga instructor and a member of the Fancy Dress Committee.

Lily Webster, ‘22 – Lily is a 2022 graduate from Spartanburg, South Carolina, who majored in Cognitive and Behavioral Science. She is now a sales associate for Alice + Olivia in New York City. Lily joined the lab in the fall of her senior year. At W&L, she was a Development Ambassador and a member of the Generals Activity Board.

Hannah O’Connor, ’22 – Hannah is a 2022 graduate from Naperville, Illinois, who majored in Cognitive and Behavioral Science with a minor in Education Policy. She is now a Clinical Psychology PhD student at the University of Connecticut. Hannah joined the lab in the winter of her junior year. At W&L, she served on the Diversity and Inclusion Committee for her sorority and volunteered with Campus Kitchen and the children at the Office on Youth.

Caroline Hall, ’22 – Caroline is a 2022 graduate from Richmond, Virginia, who majored in Cognitive and Behavioral Science and Biology. She is currently pursuing her master’s to become a Physician Assistant at Shenandoah University. Caroline joined the lab in the winter of her junior year. On campus, she served as a captain of the Women’s Lacrosse team.

Abby Feigenbaum, ’22 – Abby is a 2022 graduate from Virginia Beach, Virginia, who majored in Cognitive and Behavioral Science with a minor in German. She is now a licensed Physical Therapist, having earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from The George Washington University in May. Abby joined the lab in the winter of her junior year. At W&L, she served as Program Chair for the Active Minds Club chapter and worked as a Rehab Aide at a local hospital. She currently works as a Physical Therapist at Skills on the Hill, LLC in Washington, D.C., specializing in pediatrics.

Caroline Baber, ’22 – Caroline is a 2022 graduate from Richmond, Virginia, who majored in Cognitive and Behavioral Science with a minor in Education. She earned her Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Virginia and is currently completing her clinical fellowship at Talk Therapy Services in Richmond, Virginia. Caroline joined the lab in the winter of her junior year. At W&L, she was a member of the varsity swim team and participated in the mentor program at Fairfield Elementary.

Katherine Weaver, ’21 – Katherine is a 2021 graduate from Ithaca, New York, who earned a B.S. in Cognitive and Behavioral Science with a minor in Mass Communications. She is currently a doctoral student in the Psychology Department at the University of South Carolina. Katherine joined the lab in the fall of her junior year and previously worked with Cornell University’s Infant Studies Lab. At W&L, she was a member of the varsity swim team and served as co-chair for Fancy Dress.

Gina LaRusso ’21 – Gina is a 2021 graduate from Melville, New York, who earned a B.S. in Cognitive and Behavioral Science. She is now a Young Life Area Director. Gina joined the lab in the fall of her sophomore year. At W&L, she was on the leadership team for RUF, a Christian ministry organization, and served as a leader for Appalachian Adventure, a pre-orientation backpacking trip for freshmen.

Meghan Kelley ’21 – Meghan is a 2021 graduate from Wellesley, Massachusetts, who majored in Psychology with a minor in Poverty Studies. She is now a Senior Associate at True Search in New York City. Meghan joined the lab in the winter of her sophomore year. At W&L, she volunteered with Campus Kitchen and Project Horizon, serving members of the Rockbridge community.

Emily Moran ’21 – Emily is a 2021 graduate from Charlotte, North Carolina, who earned a B.A. in Cognitive and Behavioral Science with a minor in Education. She is now an Associate Advisor at Peltoma Capital Partners in Austin, Texas. Emily joined Dr. Fulcher’s lab in the winter of her freshman year and served as Participant Coordinator during her time there. At W&L, she was a University Ambassador and a Peer Counselor.

Graham Pergande ’20 – Graham is a 2020 graduate from Fort Worth, Texas, who earned a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Creative Writing. He is now a Social Worker and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Specialist at the NYU Langone Child Study Center at Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital. Graham joined the lab in the winter of his junior year. At W&L, he was part of the leadership team of the Washingtonian Society, the university’s collegiate recovery community, and had been a member since his sophomore year. He also spent the last two summers working with adolescents at an inpatient treatment center in Texas and a wilderness therapy program in Wisconsin.

Abby Miller, ’20 – Abby is a senior from Mount Airy, Georgia. She is pursuing a degree in Cognitive and Behavioral Science with a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She has been a member of the lab since the winter of her sophomore year. As a member of the lab she enjoys helping to facilitate community outreach events and working with children in the Rockbridge County area. On campus, Abby is an LGBTQ Peer Counselor and a Diversity and Inclusion training facilitator. After graduation she plans on pursuing a PsyD in developmental clinical psychology. **

Aidan Long ’20 – Aidan is a 2020 graduate from Concord, Massachusetts, who earned a B.A. in Cognitive and Behavioral Science with a minor in Philosophy. He is now a Senior RPA and APA Software Developer at Lydonia Technologies. Aidan joined the lab in the fall of his senior year. At W&L, he was a member of the varsity lacrosse team, the Outing Club, and volunteered with Campus Kitchen.

Abby Hinrichs ’20 – Abby is a 2020 graduate from Charlotte, North Carolina, who earned a B.A. in Cognitive and Behavioral Science and Spanish. She is now a Speech-Language Pathologist at Akron Children’s Hospital in Ohio. Abby joined the lab in her junior year. At W&L, she served as the International Trip Coordinator and worked as a local Spanish translator for English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) in Rockbridge County.

Hannah Dodds, ’20 – Hannah is a senior from Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania pursuing a B.S. in Psychology. She has been a member of the lab since the winter of her sophomore year. On campus, Hannah is a member of the varsity women’s soccer team and a member of the executive team of the Promise Committee. Upon graduation, she plans to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology.

Caroline Coppinger, ’20 – Caroline is a senior from Billerica, Massachusetts, pursuing a B.S. in Business Administration and a minor in Creative Writing. On campus, Caroline is a member of the varsity women’s soccer team. Upon graduation, she will work in the financial services industry as an analyst at RBC Capital Markets.

Hailey Glick, ’19- Hailey is a senior from Raleigh, North Carolina pursuing a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Poverty Studies. She joined the lab in the fall of her junior year. On campus, Hailey serves as the Lead Student for the Novack Fund and is a section leader in the University Singers. After graduation, she hopes to earn her MS and become a social worker.

Ian Gipson, ’19- Ian is a senior from Atlanta, Georgia pursuing majors in Business Administration and Psychology. He joined the lab in the winter of his junior year. On campus, Ian is a member of the varsity football team, a peer tutor, and a member of the Williams Investment Society. Upon Graduation, he hopes to begin a career in investment banking.

Catherine Peabody, ’19 -Catherine is a senior from Honolulu, Hawaii pursuing a major in Psychology and a double minor in Poverty and Human Capabilities Studies and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She joined the lab in the winter of her sophomore year and is currently the Community Outreach Coordinator. On campus, Catherine works for and sits on the leadership team of Campus Kitchen. After college, she would like to join Americorps and pursue a graduate degree with a concentration in prison reform.

Marie Baldwin, ’19– Marie is a senior from Dallas, Texas. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She has been a member of the lab since her sophomore year, and currently serves as the lab’s data coordinator. On campus, Marie is a student DJ for the campus radio station, a member of the executive team of the Promise Committee, and serves as senior chair for the Perspectives Committee of the FYOC. She is also the student liaison to the Women and Gender Studies advisory board. After graduation, Marie hopes to pursue a graduate degree in data analytics.

M. Davis Straske, ’19 – Davis is a senior from Tampa, Florida, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Dance. She has been a part of the lab since the winter of her freshman year, and currently serves as the lab’s participant coordinator and pre-school liaison. On campus, Davis dances with and is the co-president for the W&L Dance Repertory Company. She also serves as Vice President of the Panhellenic Council. After college, Davis hopes to earn a PhD in developmental psychology and focus her research on children’s socio-emotional development and parent-child relationships.*

Evan Kueffner, ’18 –Evan is from Jackson, Michigan and majored in Psychology. Currently residing in Nashville, he is enrolled at Vanderbilt’s Osher Center for Integrative Medicine to earn certification as a Mindfulness Facilitator.*

Catherine Simpson, ’18 – Catherine is a Psychology major with a minor in Creative Writing from Richmond, Virginia. Catherine is currently in graduate school at Vanderbilt University in the Peabody School of Education and Human Development. She has worked part-time for Compass Counseling as a behavior support clinician for children with autism, and is pursuing her research interests in autism through her Master’s program at Vanderbilt.

Darby Lundquist, ’17 – Darby is a psychology major from Virginia Beach, Virginia. Currently, Darby is working in New York at Camp Ramapo. During the summer, she leads ropes courses for kids with disabilities. During the school year, she will live with a young adult with special needs to help them learn skills to live independently. On the weekends, Darby leads retreats with Camp Ramapo for inner-city school children. After her time in New York, she hopes to get a Masters of Psy.D in clinical psychology to work with children with disabilities.

Nelson Helm, ’17 – Nelson is from Salem, VA and was a psychology and journalism double major. Nelson is currently taking a gap year, pursuing journalism in Atlanta, before heading back to school to get his PhD in Developmental Psychology.

Addie Healy, ’16 – Addie is a psychology major from Arlington, Virginia. Addie is currently working at Georgetown Prep Centers and anticipating graduate school in the near future.

Charlotte Magee, ‘15 – Charlotte is a neuroscience major from Charlotte, North Carolina. She began working in Dr. Fulcher’s Lab in the winter of her junior year. Charlotte spent the summer of 2014 working in The Affect Cognition Lab under the direction of Dr. Johnson and in the fall of 2014 joined Dr. Whiting’s Cognition Lab. Charlotte works in research as the lab technician in the Behavioral Pharmacology Laboratory directed by Mark Smith, Ph.D. at Davidson College.

Randl Dent, ’15 – Randl is from Dunkirk, MD and majored in Psychology. She began working in Dr. Fulcher’s lab in the Winter of her sophomore year. Randl is now attending Virginia Commonwealth University in pursuit of her PhD in Public Health.

Eliza Parrott, ’14 – Eliza is from Roanoke, VA and majored in Psychology. Eliza is working for an insurance company in Richmond, VA.

Emily Warner Suminski, ’14 – Emily is from Lancaster, CA. She majored in Psychology and minored in Poverty and Human Capability. She began working in Dr. Fulcher’s lab in the Winter of her junior year. Emily has worked with the homeless in an outreach program in Washington DC. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Public Health.

Kingsley Schroeder, ’14 – Kingsley is from Dayton, OH and majored in Psychology. Kingsley has now entered doctorate developmental psychology program with a special focus in gender development at Penn State. She is working with Dr. Lynn Liben.
